Alpaca Association of New Zealand Award of $250 and an alpaca fleece for the entry that best illustrates the lightness and fineness of alpaca fibre. Sponsored by the Alpaca Association of New Zealand.
The Black and Coloured Sheep Breeders’ Association Award of a silver rose bowl, $250 and a champion fleece for an outstanding entry that is identifiably constructed primarily of undyed naturally coloured wool (where white is not considered a colour). The entry may also include up to a total of 20% white wool, other fibres, dyed colours or embellishments.

Auckland Woolfest Art Yarn Award of $200 for a skein of art yarn. The theme for this year is ‘Threads for Change’ (to match the festival theme). The skein must contain not less than 30% New Zealand fibre and must be accompanied by a journal of the design process: the planning and creative process showing how the theme has been interpreted, telling the story of how it was created, and justifying the choices made in fibre choice, preparation, and construction. The length of the yarn must be reasonably long – enough to showcase the construction and the connection to the theme.

Dreamfire Yarns Award of $200 for the best use of colour in a hand knitted or crocheted entry.
Kepler Mountain View Alpacas & Wild Wool Gallery Award of $300 for an entry with a wow factor that celebrates the diversity of the natural colours of alpacas (22 different recognised colours) by using 100% undyed alpaca fibre.
Unicorn Fibre Cleaners Award of $300 for a wearable entry, made with 100% natural fibres, on the theme of ‘The Magic of a Unicorn’, reflecting the magic of Unicorn Fibre Cleaners’ earth friendly products which work hard so you don’t have to. Be creative and interpret the theme as you wish.
Starcrest Farm Award of a $200 voucher for Starcrest Farm Polwarth fibre or yarn, for the best article using at least 80% Polwarth.
Kane Carding Award of $200 for an entry that reflects the versatility of handmade felt using animal fibres. Traditional, needle or nuno felting allowed.
